Drury University was founded in 1873 as a private liberal arts college. Today, the university has a little over 1300 traditional undergraduate students and over 200 graduate students. Drury is committed to guiding their students to become servant leaders in their communities. The Watershed Committee of the Ozarks has teamed up with Drury University to work on different projects over the years that meet their mission to improve the water resources in Springfield and Greene County.

This spring, my fellow classmates and I are working on a marketing campaign for the Watershed. We are a strategic communication team that is designing and executing a promotional campaign that will consist of events, social-media assets, public-service announcements, advertisements and partnerships to help promote the Watershed’s mission.

After conducting extensive research, we have created a 3-month campaign that will consist of:

  • PSA announcements on the radio
  • Window decals that will be passed out to local businesses
  • Partnerships with local businesses
  • 2 events:
    • Watershed Night at the Ballpark (April 14, 2017): This is a charity event in which every $11 ticket we sell, $3 will be given back to the Watershed. Family and friends will enjoy an evening of Springfield Cardinal baseball and free giveaways from the Watershed!
    • RSVPaint event (March 25 & 26, 2017): This is a charity event that allows people to enjoy an evening of painting. Half of the proceeds from admission sales go to the Watershed!
  • A series of Facebook posts and advertisements used to boost followers and promote events (Follow along Watershed’s Facebook page!)
  • Pledge to Value Water Cards

For greater results, we have split our class of 13 students into five groups, each with specific specialties. These groups are the design team, social media team, RSVPaint event/PSA team, Cardinal event team and the partnerships team.

We look forward to helping the Watershed and working with you, and we hope you enjoy the upcoming social media content we will create for WCO this semester!
