Yesterday morning, I spoke to a representative of the Missouri Stream Teams and Watershed Coalition up in Jefferson City who has been doing some writing projects for the group. She did not know much about our Watershed Center, only that we are hosting an event in cooperation with Stream Teams for their 25th anniversary. I got share with her the great features of our site and all of the awesome collaborations we take part in. Check out her preview of the event HERE!

In the afternoon I had the pleasure of guiding the new class of Leadership Springfield through a Watershed Center Experience. The highlight for me was the five-minutes of silent nature observation, meditation, and reflection. We saw a deer, heard kids playing in the creek, and noticed many songs and flowers that may have otherwise gone undiscovered. When we got back into the building, I shared the floor with Ozark Greenways and Springfield Greene County Park Board, both of whom we have and continue to partner with on projects and education. I shared the room with a large group of individuals representing different business types and trades and all interested in making Springfield a wonderful place to live.

Working out here every day, I must confess that I take for granted the beauty and tranquility of the place. I get trapped in the world of emails and mental checklists and I forget to step outside. I also for granted the fact that so many people in our community and throughout the state care so deeply for our waters and are excited to work together to protect and promote them. The list of collaborative opportunities and crossed paths is endless, even within my short and narrow scope of the organization. Throughout our 30 year history, we have been happy to partner with many of you, and we appreciate the work you do.

If you have not been out here to the Watershed Center lately or ever, please join us next Thursday, May 29th, from  6pm to 8pm. We will be happy to show you around. Thanks

Rob Hunt, Watershed Center Coordinator
