Failing septic systems can contaminate surface and groundwater, including wells used for drinking water. The Watershed Committee, in partnership with the Missouri DNR, Greene County, and the Springfield/Greene County Park Board, is taking an innovative approach to addressing this problem-helping the people who install and maintain onsite stystems day in and day out.

As part of the Watershed Center Project at Valley Water Mill Park, the Onsite Wastewater Training Center will serve as a hands-on classroom for wastewater professionals, focusing on the design and installation of advanced systems.

On May 22, at 5p.m., the Grand Opening of the Center will be held. Experts will be available to answer questions and the first 75 attendees will receive a $100 septic tank pump-out coupon. For more information call 417-866-1127 or e-mail Mike Kromrey, mike@watershedcommittee.org
