The Watershed Committee of the Ozarks is excited to once again partner with Springfield Public Schools to offer an innovative project based learning experience. Seventh grade students from Carver, Pleasant View, and Reed Middle Schools are participating in the pilot project. Teams of students are being challenged to develop plans to improve the greenspace around each of their home schools. Students are gaining the knowledge needed to complete their designs during four field trips to the Watershed Center. The district will provide funding up to  $500 to implement the winning design from each school. The combination of real-world challenge and hands-on experiences means more engaged students in an effective learning activity. We hope to be able to expand on this program and offer it to all SPS seventh grade students beginning next year.  Click link below to read the News-Leader article.
