Our new board walk working magnificently

We are so excited about our new board walk here at the Watershed Center. For the last few years, our old board walk along the north eastern edge of the lake has held water after every rain storm, causing deep puddles and slick spots on the structure that is meant to keep visitors safe and dry as they walk over water.

Last year we raised money through the first ever Give Ozarks Day and our Watershed Summer Gala to pay for the new boardwalk. This winter, we finally got to see it being assembled before our eyes by the super skilled and hard working Springfield Greene County Park Board Staff. Just after the main walk was completed, we received record rainfall and the lake came up quite a bit, as you can see in this photo. However, our new board walk, with tougher boards even spacing, drained flawlessly and worked exactly as designed.

We are thrilled to have so much support, from partners like the Park Board and the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, to our volunteers and donors-thank you!  Please come out and enjoy this new addition to our awesome trail system!
