Sinkhole Connection

Sinkholes are a common but unique feature in the karst geology of the Ozarks. They are natural drainage points that connect to our local groundwater.  Water that drains into a sinkhole can carry pollutants with it so it is important to remember anything on the surface of the ground can easily get into our groundwater. As John Muir said, “When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.”  To learn more read our Sinkhole and Karst Factsheet here: https://watershedcommittee.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/WCO-Sinkholes-Factsheet.pdf
