Fellows Lake Recreation Area
History
Fellows is an 860-acre lake created in 1955 by the impoundment of the Little Sac River. It is the main source of drinking water for Springfield. Fellows Lake has a family-friendly atmosphere with a 40 hp maximum boat motor limit. Sport fishing opportunities include bass, crappie, walleye, and muskie. Trailspring and Ozark Greenways have created Dirt 66 natural surface trails for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking bringing new visitors to the park, and the Miller Park Master Plan outlines upgrading amenities, recreational opportunities, and educational opportunities.
Watershed Committee Executive Director, Mike Kromrey, is looking forward to taking on the marina and educating lake users about invasive zebra mussels and hydrilla plants, fish species, and the need to protect the area’s water. He said, “We will strive to continue the customer service out there that people have come to expect. We also want to further our mission of not only connecting people with the lake but connecting them with information and actions we have to do to keep our water clean.”
Fellows Lake Store & Dock
The Fellows Lake store is open seven days a week, sunrise to sunset, from March 1 to Oct. 31 and is located at the top of the hill as you drive in at Gate 3.
The store offers kayak, canoe, and sailboat rentals (March-Oct), motorized rentals (all year), bait and tackle, drinks, and snacks.
The dock is open! And we are renting slips and boats. Construction still continues to upgrade the access.

Motorized and non-motorized boat permit/decals renew on April 14th and will be available at the Fellows Lake store.

Springfield Sailing Club
The mission of the Springfield Sailing Club is to encourage and promote the sport of safe sailing, regardless of one’s ability, and to educate sailors on environmental stewardship to all the natural resources that make the sport possible at Fellows Lake and its surrounding area.
The Springfield Sailing Club (an independent organization) was formed by volunteers who are passionate sailors. The group wanted to bring a sailing program to Fellows Lake to promote the sport and provide an opportunity to enjoy and help protect this valuable resource in the Ozarks.
