Fellows Lake Crew Member

Department: Fellows Lake, LLC

Supervisor: Fellows Lake Operations Director 

Indirect Supervisor: Watershed Executive Director

Schedule: Seasonal, Part-Time

  • March 1 – October 31: Fellows Lake store is open variable hours. Must be available days, evenings, weekends and some Holidays.
  • FLSA Classification: Seasonal, Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Pay: Starting at $16.00 per hour

Benefits: some accrued PTO per the Watershed Personnel Manual.

About Watershed and Fellows Lake

Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, (dba Watershed) was formed in 1984 to help protect and improve the water supplies of Springfield and Greene County through education and effective management of the region’s watersheds. Watershed formed Fellows Lake, LLC in 2021 and began managing the dock and store at Fellows Lake as an opportunity to connect lake goers to our mission and the area’s main water supply source, Fellows Lake.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

The Crew Member position will work closely with Fellows Lake Marina Management to create an all-around great experience for visitors by providing the highest level of customer service and important stewardship information about the Fellows Lake.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS – Other duties may be assigned

· Provide quality, prompt, courteous, and safe services to all slip owners and customers.

· Perform the daily activities involved with the marina store and dock such as taking reservations, renting watercraft, selling retail items available in the store.

· Ensure and take appropriate action for the proper maintenance of all marina property, equipment, grounds, facilities, and docks.

· Provide information to customers and the public about Watershed’s mission and the connection to Fellows Lake, Springfields main water supply source.

· Lead in developing a constituency of Lake Lovers through strategic communication—

· Provide support for variety of special events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Must be able to swim.

· Must have a valid Missouri Driver’s license.

· Able to tolerate a variety of weather and spend a lot of time outdoors.

· Positive attitude and love of the outdoors is desired.

· Boating experience in and around boats (basic knowledge of how to operate a boat), preferred

· Physical ability to lift / carry up to 30 lbs.

· Physical ability to board and un-board boats dozens of times per day.

· Physical ability to clean boats often using handle mounted brush.

· Occasional kneeling / stooping to clean interior of boat compartments.

· Vision adequate to read / manipulate handheld computer tablets in bright sunlight.

· Ability to walk on steep, slippery and occasionally rocky or muddy terrain.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Associate Degree or equivalent preferred.

· Experience working outdoors and familiarity with marina work preferred, and the ability to obtain a Boater’s Safety card.

· Experience working with the public and POS system, preferred

  • The work environment is usually outside in possible inclement weather and extreme temperatures with a moderate level of noise. Exposure to water, ticks, mosquitoes and poison ivy is possible. Occasional work in a well-lighted, environmentally controlled indoor environment. Varied work hours, including days, evenings and weekend and Holidays.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20– 25 per week, up to 30-35 per week during summer months

Watershed Natives Summer Internship

Job Overview

The Watershed Natives Summer Internship provides a hands-on learning opportunity for individuals interested in native plant care, landscape design, greenhouse operations, and environmental education. Interns will also support the Floating Wetland Project and the Community Conservation Job Corps Program in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Position Summary

The Watershed Natives Summer Intern will assist with the daily care and maintenance of native plant beds, including planting, weeding, watering, and general upkeep. Interns will also help transplant new plant stock, maintain seed trays in the greenhouse, and participate in offsite conservation projects with partnering agencies through the Community Conservation Job Corps Program.

The ideal candidate is motivated, eager to learn, enjoys working outdoors, and is comfortable engaging with the public. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for native plant landscaping beds, including planting, weeding, and watering
  • Assist with the design and installation of new landscaping beds
  • Transplant and care for greenhouse plant stock and seed trays
  • Maintain and clean tools, ensuring proper storage and organization
  • Assist with plant sales and engage with customers during public events
  • Learn about native plant species and their ecological and environmental benefits
  • Participate in offsite conservation and restoration projects with partner agencies

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat and rain
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks such as lifting soil bales, moving garden hoses, and working in greenhouse environments
  • Interest in natural resources, conservation, agriculture, or environmental careers
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, adaptability, and self-motivation
  • Leadership skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Recent high school graduate or college student pursuing an environmental science or related degree. Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.

  • Start Date: May 18, 2026
  • End Date: August 14, 2026
  • Hours: 20 hours per week on average; Saturday availability required during plant sales (May–June)
  • Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour
