Join us on Friday, April 4, at the Watershed Center at 7:30 a.m. for our Monthly Meeting.

“Ozarks Chinquapin: seeds of hope”, Tim Smith, Missouri Department of Conservation, Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center, Joplin, MO

Tim graduated from Missouri State University (at the time Southwest Missouri State University) with a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management. Currently he is the Office Supervisor, with Missouri Department of Conservation, at Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center in Joplin, MO. He also served as the Interpretive Resource Coordinator, at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center in Roaring River State Park and Big Sugar Creek State Park near Pineville, MO. He has been involved with the Ozark Chinquapin Foundation since its inception, and his focus has been on education and in locating, identifying, and protecting native Ozark Chinquapin Trees, collecting pollen, cross pollinating, collecting seeds, and mailing seeds.

Following the presentation, Paula Welter, Resource Conservationist with the Natural Resource Conservation Service will give a quarterly update, and meeting attendees are encouraged to share brief updates
