February Monthly Meeting

Please join us Friday, February 7, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. for an hour of learning, conversation, and networking for clean water at the Midtown Carnegie Library (397 E. Central St., Springfield, MO).

We are excited to hear from Adam Saunders, Development Director of Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA). He will be giving an update on the exciting work of the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture.

Adam Saunders is a 34 year old urban agriculture organizer and fruit/vegetable farmer, originally from Springfield, MO.  He’s been in Columbia for 16 years and helped co-found the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) in 2009.  He currently leads CCUA’s fundraising efforts as the “Development Director”.  Adam also is the Campaign Director for the Build This Town: Campaign for the Agriculture Park, a unique public-private-partnership between Columbia Parks & Recreation, Columbia Farmers Market and CCUA.   Phase 1 of this effort was completed in middle 2019, and to-date the campaign has raised over $4.6 million.

CCUA’s mission is to provide hands-on learning opportunities from seed to plate.  CCUA uses a range of programming strategies to reach folks and help them take the next steps to learn, grow, and eat from their gardens.   More information about CCUA can be found at www.ColumbiaUrbanAg.org and Columbia’s Agriculture Park at www.BuildThisTown.org

We will hear a quarterly update from the National Weather Service.

Coffee from Big Momma’s Coffee and Espresso Bar and pastries from Delicieux will be provided to help start your day off right.
