Distillery Diplomats from Makers Mark Volunteer at Valley Water Mill Park
Makers Mark Diplomats spent a day volunteering with the Watershed on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023. These Distillery Diplomats came to the Ozarks from all over the globe, with a common focus on making their brand more sustainably oriented.
Making a Mark on the Park
Volunteers helped collect native seeds and spread fresh mulch on the wetland portion of our trail. Afterward, the group toured Valley Water Mill Park and learned about the Ozarks’ Karst terrain.
While our focus is on drinking water, Makers Mark is centered around bourbon production. The Makers Mark barrel producer resides in Lebanon, Missouri, bringing diplomats from around the globe to the Ozarks for a week of staff connection and community involvement.
Each of them understood that it all starts with water, our most valuable resource, and the team was all ears about how they could positively impact the water world. They were interested in learning how Watershed fulfills our mission through diverse efforts, from educational outreach, such as field trips at the park, to working with landowners and municipalities to implement native landscape conversions with the Watershed Conservation Corps.Â
