Springfield, MO, hosted the 2022 National Onsite Wastewater Mega Conference this year.
The three-day conference was held at University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center from October 30th through November 2nd, and about 530 people were in attendance.
Organizations that hosted the event include NOWRA, NAWT, SORA, and MSO.
According to the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA), “The Mega-Conference is the largest event of its kind and offers onsite/decentralized professionals the highest quality education and training available.”
Each day, multiple sessions were hosted by experts in the industry who discussed specialized techniques and best practices in wastewater management.
The conference also featured field trips to nearby educational facilities, including a stop at the Onsite Wastewater Training Center, which was made possible with 319 grant funding allocated to the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources from 2004-2008. This site has received support and technical assistance from Greene County Resource Management and many local onsite wastewater companies who donated products, time, and labor to help create and maintain the site. The training center focuses on wastewater and groundwater management education and has proved useful in various capacities since its installation, including during this national conference.
Other outings included a tour of the Table Rock Lake Area Wastewater Systems and tours of local caves, Fantastic Caverns being one of them.
